In Dec 1948 the Hackney Gazette reported the sad instance of the death of Mr George Bostock, aged 52. He was newspaper-seller and well-known member of the community. Mr Bostock, known to many as ‘George’ sold newspapers on the corner of Old Street and Shoreditch High-Street for 30 years.
